Hello!! I’m Natalia Vilca and I’m glad to be a student at the Profesorado de Ingles (I.F.D.C. nº 10).

I would like to tell you a little about myself. I love reading and writing, from short texts to long stories, I love to swim in the summer, and cook and bake for my family whenever I have time. My favourite academic subject is language , probably because I like reading about real people and everything. But I have to say that my real passion is phonetics.

I am happier when I can spend time with my friends . No matter how busy I am, I always have time for my boyfriend, although he is not here most of the time I call him as often as I can.

I` m very excited about this blog and I hope you enjoy reading my work. I`d love to get your feedback on how to improve my work.If you have any questions or suggestions just reply to my e-mail.

THANK YOU!!!!

Using chat in language teaching:

Do you agree or disagree with the following statements? Why?
1)      With text chat, we need to teach learners to use “texts speak”, e.g. L8er for “later”.
2)    Voice chat is easier to use than text chat.
3)    The teacher requires a lot of technical knowledge to use text or voice chat with learners.
4)    It’s a good idea to teach learners some chat conventions, e.g. how to take turns.
5)    Using chat is best between classes who already meet regularly face-to face.

Development:

1      I agree becouse they are going to use it,  so teaching  them “text speak” would be very useful. This kind of typing  is like a new language that is being  developed on chatting conversations.
2       Everything depends on the conection, if it works correctly the easiest and useful is the voice chat, becouse the conversations are more spontanious.

3        I don`t agree with this idea because for me the teacher needs just some basic knowledge about how the text and voice chat operates. I`m sure the students are going to help her in case of  doubts because they know how to use them.

4       I agree because when students are lower writers than their pen friends they have to know how to make them notice as still writing (…) or when they want to make a question (?).

5      In my opinion  it`s essencially important for the students know a bit about the other students they are going to chat with later on, so they can find the conversations a bit more interesting and in this way chatting  becomes a necessary tool for students to be aware of how the foreign language works through practising it.
